How to Wear it :: Elephant One-Piece

It’s that time of year when all the summer clothes start popping up in stores. I get overwhelmed when summer clothes come out because I’m not sure what to wear with my new bathing suits! But fear no more. I’m here to help you style some of Lime Ricki’s suits! The first one I chose is the elephant one-piece because I love this suit. It’s so fun.

I go pretty simple when styling suits, especially suits with a lot of detail, because you don’t want to take the focus off of the suit. So with the elephant one-piece I’d wear simple denim shorts with or without a tank top, up to you. The suit can pose as a cute tank itself. I like to mix colors (a lot) so I chose to throw in some turquoise with the navy and coral. Never be afraid to mix and match.

Music Tuesday – Summer Jams

A track for exactly how you should feel on a fine day like today. One of my favorite things about summer is the endless stream of summer jams that fill air. Everywhere you turn, the radio, the Internet, the car next to you at the stoplight playing Santeria by Sublime. Summer jams are everywhere! I hope this adds to your enjoyment of the season.

PS What did you do this weekend? I went on a little hike to a place I’d never been before and it was so great, just enough sun, just enough cool mountain air.

What are you doing cooped up inside the house this weekend? There seem to be an endless stream of things to do. The world is warm again, and it is calling to me + you. If there is a beach nearby, please see it. Does the moon sparkle off of its rippling waves at midnight? Do the stars look dusty as they reflect off the shore? What does the sand feel like crushed underneath your heels?

The moon is a crescent right now, I’ve seen it every night this week. I’ve seen the stars reflect off of rooftops but somehow it’s not the same. I’ve dipped deep into the cooling waters of pools and filled the air with songs of summer.

I realized the other day not that life is too short not to enjoy it, and too great not to notice it. “Does anyone ever realize life while they live it… every, every minute?” Thornton Wilder’s words ring haunting and sweet. So, dear adventurer, what will you do this weekend to realize life? Whatever you do, take a minute to look at the moon. It is beautiful.

Retro

At Lime Ricki, we have been embracing the retro trend for both men and women. It’s kind of funny, when bathing suits become “retro,” more fabric is added to women’s suits while fabric is taken away from men’s suits. Now, you may be thinking, “Those men’s suits are so short!” But that’s the style of the 60′s, 70′s and even 80′s. Long, baggy swim trunks are a fairly recent trend.

Remember when players in the NBA wore short shorts and high socks? It was amazing right? (I secretly wish they’d wear those outfits again). Remember Frankie Avalon? (Pictured above with Annette Funicello). He was an actor in the 60′s and starred in a bunch of beach party movies. See his swim trunks? They’re coming back!

Make a Statement

I don’t know about you, but I was slow to embrace the statement jewelry trend. Mostly because I’m pretty sure it all started with the bubble necklace, which I wasn’t a fan of. But since then statement pieces have gotten more creative and stunning, and they add a great pop to any outfit. Now one of my go-to outfits is a fully buttoned chambray top with a mint stone statement necklace. True to their name statement pieces are meant to be bold and stand out, so try to keep your outfit subdued when wearing one (unless you happen to find a more neutral statement piece like the one in this photo).

Music Tuesday – Magic Man

I wanted to share the new Daft Punk with you today, but I couldn’t get this song out of my head, so I’m sharing it with you instead. It’s got that running beat that drives the song and leaves you feeling like taking a night drive down to the beach.

I love music that comes with a certain feel to it. When you can just press play and it all comes cascading over you. “How could you ever ask for more?” So, if you get a chance this weekend, try it out! Party Recap

Thanks to all our VIP’s who attended our exclusive grand opening event at the Riverwoods! We loved meeting a few of our favorite bloggers and local celebrities in person. Our attendees were able to preview the new summer line and received free suits and tote bags. We served Lime Ricki’s (of course), fresh fruit and coconut cupcakes.

Summer is here

Ah summer. How we have missed you. While the first day of summer isn’t officially until June 21st this year, it’s certainly starting to feel like summer outside. I’m so excited for warm late nights with friends, sunsets, camping and boating. Plus I think everyone looks their best in the summer. Am I right? Our skin gets darker from the sun, our bodies get stronger from all the fun we’re having outside, and our style becomes more relaxed and comfortable.
