#LRIH – The Great Lime Ricki Insta-Hunt 2012

Ok, so if you aren’t following Lime Ricki (@limericki) on Instagram yet, then I suggest you start. This Saturday, gift cards will be hidden in different cities across the U.S. and the only way to find out where they are is to follow us on Instagram. Photo clues of where the gift cards are located will be posted along with the city in which they are located. Once you see a spot that you recognize (i.e. it’s in your area) you can head down, and hopefully, find a sweet little envelope with #LRIH written on the outside; on the inside you’ll find credit for any of our great summer suits! So, like I said, if you aren’t following Lime Ricki on Instagram, then it might be time to do so.

Instagram is available to all iPods, iPads, iPhones, and Android phones and devices.

Tunes for Two

Imagine the road trip reinvented. In the back of the car, all the way in the way back, where trees and road signs fly by. Back where music can be personal, but usually never shared (unless you’re sharing headphones). Now, imagine both being able to plug into the music. That’s what a headphone splitter does. And anyone who has ever tried headphone splitters knows that they usually aren’t all that great, let alone cool looking. Enter the Tunes For Two, Robot Headphone Splitter. Now, you can accessorize and share your music like you always wanted to. Two sets of headphones, one iPod. With summer upon us, and countless road trips ahead, you’ve got to think about how you’re going to share those new songs you’ve been digging; and now you can do it in style.

Summer Jam 2012

Summer + music were always meant to be together, and if you are looking for the perfect summer jam this year, I think I might be able to help you out. Here are the rules to a true summer jam:
1. It has to make you feel like you are on top of the world when you are driving with the windows down at sunset.
2. It has to be compatible with all of your favorite summer activities; BBQ’s, beach days, swimming, tennis, running, hiking, biking, days at the lake, etc…
3. If you were to make a movie of your summer, you would choose this song as the soundtrack.

Feel free to add your own thoughts on what makes a good summer jam, but without further ado here is mine:

Weathermob

One of the coolest designs in an app all year comes, surprisingly, from a weather app.  Weathermob, a social take on weather forecasts, lets you know the weather and report it however you want.  Looking at the weekly forecast coming up all sunshine will put you in the best mood.  Here you can look at the website and see just how cool the app works.  Now, when you are planning the next backyard BBQ or day at the beach, you’ll not only be able to see the weather report, but put your own report out there for others to see.  Just don’t get sand in your phone when you’re enjoying those rays.

Now, Now

I’m always eager to share good music, making mixes for friends and strangers alike. And sometimes I’m scouring to find something new that is worthy of being shared and can’t find it. But when I heard Now, Now, I was so excited. I just started listening to it on Spotify — A free music player that you may want to look into if you haven’t heard of it — and it kind of blew me away. I’m usually pretty careful with how I reccommend music because I know it’s a different experience for everyone, so if you’re into solid girl rock with hints of Eisley and Metric, then you may want to look into Now, Now’s CD Threads. And if you haven’t heard of Metric or Eisley, then you may just want to check them out as well. I can just see myself at the beach, listening to Threads as the waves roll in. What a beautiful summer it will be.

Yellow Owl Workshop

Are you looking for the kind of card you’d feel comfortable sending to your hip aunt?  The aunt who sent you a birthday card every year ages 1-now.  The aunt who you always looked up to because of her impeccable style?  If so, then you might want to spend a little bit of time on yellowowlworkshop.com.  As if it isn’t hard enough to find the right card for the right occasion, yellow owl workshop makes a little bit easier.  We’ve all had those days where we scanned the isles of Hallmark and came away empty handed a little more stressed out then when we came in.  It’s just that when you send a card, you want it to represent you.  So why settle for something that doesn’t jive with who you are?  If nothing else, it’s cool window shopping.

Put a Bird on it

We laughed so hard at this clip from Portlandia. And then…we remembered, we’ve put a bird on it.

Twice.

Tuesday is Music Day

If you’re not a John Mayer fan, what don’t you like about some of the most likable music in the last decade? It seems like there is something in his catalogue for everyone, but as I’m learning — you can’t please everyone. But, if you have ever liked John Mayer’s music, or even just spent a summer night in the backyard while his music played, you might be excited to hear about his new single – Shadow Days. It’s a good tune set to a good beat and will likely make a lot of lake/pool/beach playlists this year, so you might want the heads up on it now.

Do you remember 2004? If you do, you must remember the Garden State soundtrack. Really the first soundtrack I ever thought I had to purchase. And if you remember that, then you know The Shins. They stole the show on that soundtrack, and have released music since — you’ve probably heard Phantom Limb or Australia. But today, Port of Morrow is released. It’s their fourth album and is sure to put you in a good mood. I’ve always loved The Shins for their simple and lovable sound. If you agree in any way, you may want to look up their new album. I really like Simple Song so far.

Enjoy!
