I wore my Lime Ricki suit to the pool on Saturday. It was 91 degrees and there was just enough shade that it all felt cool. It was a great way to welcome in the summer, as I’m done with classes. Like any good pool sesh though, there will need to be good music, and I’ve got you covered.
Because it’s all golden from here. Even if you’re still in school, there’s only a month left. And if you’re working, there are weekends upon weekends to make the most of. So, here’s to a great beginning.
Every person in this world should own a pair of chucks. They are such a staple item. You really can’t go wrong wearing converse. And what is better than a brand new, crisp pair of white chucks? I can’t think of much. They are great for every season and (almost) every occasion.
Raise your hand if you’re a book on the beach kind of person. I half raised my hand. And after a semester of reading short stories and essays, I think some light summer reading is in the cards for me. What about you? Do you make a summer book list? What have been some of your favorite summer reads? I’d like to make a list so that in the early morning hours, and ones just before bed, I will have good books to read, places (in pages) to go. So here’s to a great summer of exploration, both literal and figurative.
Do you love maps as much as I do? They make me want to book a ticket and fly somewhere far away. And summer is just around the corner, so what better time to plan a trip? A couple years ago I booked a flight one day and was in Seattle the next. I met up with my friend Mindy and she took me to restaurants and shops only a local would know about.
I’d love to go to South America someday soon to knock that off my bucket list, but for now I am headed to New York City this summer. Do you have any fun plans for travel this summer? Or do you happen to know the best things to do while in NYC? Fill me in!
This song is not only perfectly eery, it’s beautiful. I picture driving through a forest at dusk when I hear it. Probably home from the beach, Cannon Beach if I’m lucky. Have you been there? It’s on the Oregon Coast, near where they make Tilamook ice cream. Have you had that? There is a gallon of Chocolate Mudslide in my freezer right now and let me tell you, it is the perfect food coma companion for finals week. Study for 4+ hours for a test, come home, eat a bowl of ice cream, play this song, dream of driving through tall pines on the way to the ocean.
It’s that time of year. The sun comes out, the bathing suits come out, and the freckles come out. For some people. Others are lacking in the freckle department. But have no fear! Fake freckles to the rescue! I know what you’re thinking, who would ever put on fake freckles? The answer is a lot of people. They just don’t tell you they’re fake, and they look so real you’d never think to ask if they’re fake.
I was skeptical at first too. I get some freckles on my face, but I’m greedy and I want a lot more. Freckles are so beautiful. They are like little specks of sun on your face and they make me so happy. So I’m going to let you in on my secret to fake freckles! It’s simple, really. You need a stipple sponge and either stage makeup or tanning lotion. Buy the stipple sponge and stage makeup at a costume store. I get Banana Boat tanning lotion from Target. Just dab the sponge in the stage makeup/tanning lotion and dab on your skin. I do it just on my nose and my cheek bones like the above picture.
The stage makeup is for one-day use. The tanning lotion will obviously stay a little longer and then fade. (I suggest practicing with stage makeup before using tanning lotion.) Go get your freckles on ladies!
Five panel hats are a hit. As if you didn’t know it. As fashion goes, snapbacks are on the way out, and five panels are on the way in. Which is cool. Just embrace it, right? But how can I embrace it when I never got a snapback in the first place? I was just waiting for the perfect one, and now my chance is gone. Unless I want to be “soooooo last season.”
Do you know what isn’t last season? Lime Ricki’s spring line. It’s one thing to look at it on the computer, but you’ve got to come into one of our stores and try the suits on if you can. My favorite one is the belted black one-piece. It’s classy, and has so much style. But there are so many other suits to try on, combinations of bottoms and tops, polka dots, stripes, gingham, floral. Spring is in the air. Hope to see you at a shop soon!
Here’s a behind the scenes look at the spring photo shoot. Our models and stylists were amazing to work with and we had a great day soaking up the California sun. Are you even more curious after watching this about what goes into a Lime Ricki shoot? Comment below with any questions you have and we’ll be sure to fill you in!
And guys, don’t worry. The men’s collection you see throughout this video is on its way.
If you have good headphones, please plug them in. This song was made by someone who understood what it was like to have nice headphones. Anyway, if you were unsure if it was spring yet, it is here. Time to break out your sandals, shorts, and t-shirts. I still haven’t been swimming, but was supposed to time and time again. Does the hot tub count?
I’m excited for spring for a few reasons. The first being that school ends this week for me. I can’t even tell you how good that will feel to not worry about 15 page papers, deadlines, and paying parking tickets from the campus police. It’s going to feel a.ma.zing. Just like this song makes me feel.
On another quick note, I’m excited to go camping this spring/summer. I have kind of neglected it the past few years, but there are so many great places to camp around me that I would be a bad citizen of this state if I didn’t take advantage. Anyway, I hope your post school trips and activities are as fun to plan as mine, and that this song helps you along the way. Enjoy!
